Chairs

The Institute supports two chairs of Anglo-American Law.

Anglo-American Private Law

Prof. Ewan McKendrick QC holds the chair of Anglo-American Private Law, since 2018. Ewan McKendrick teaches at Leiden University courses in the master Civil Law, like English Contract Law. Former incumbents of this illustrious chair are Geert de Grooth (1955-1962), Nico Blok (1964-1982), Sir Basil Markesinis (1986-2000), Peter Birks (2002-2004) and John Cartwright (2007-2017).

Comparative and Transnational Law of Civil Procedure

Prof. Olav Haazen holds the chair of Comparative and Transnational Law of Civil Procedure, since 2012. In the master Civil Law he teaches the course Comparative Civil Procedure. Olav Haazen has also teached for many years courses like International Commercial Arbitration and Litigation and Enforcement & Litigation.
